My Inspiration

“What if?” is my favourite question, inspired by the poem "What If You Fly?" by Erin Hanson. It’s a question that invites freedom and possibility, asking us to step beyond fear and embrace what could be. In her words: "There is freedom waiting for you, on the breezes of the sky, and you ask, 'What if I fall?' Oh, but my darling, what if you fly?" For me, this question is a reminder to challenge the limits we place on ourselves—those limiting beliefs we think are facts. It opens up space for new ideas, fresh perspectives, and the courage to take bold steps. Asking “What if?” isn’t just about imagining new possibilities; it’s about trusting yourself enough to take the leap and see what happens when you choose to fly.

Fun Facts About Me

  • Born and raised in New York—yes, I’m a true New Yorker at heart.

  • I have a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Advertising, thanks to an incredible teacher who showed me how to turn creative ideas into sales.

  • I also hold a Juris Doctorate in US law, which trained me to make persuasive, logical arguments that get results.

  • My roots run deep—born to Jamaican parents, I’m a first-generation American who knows the immigrant experience inside and out.

  • I’ve had a diverse career in HR, covering everything from recruitment to talent management, information systems, internal communications, and compensation—just missing the benefits part.

  • I ran track and field in high school, which earned me a full scholarship to university. I’m competitive and disciplined, and I’ve got the medals to prove it.

  • In New York City, 4 months pregnant, working at Ogilvy, when 9/11 struck. It was a time of crisis, and I learned firsthand how to navigate uncertainty while carrying new life.

  • I was a Business Analyst on a Y2K SAP implementation project—yep, that's how I got my start in tech (and how you can tell how long I've been around).

  • Married to a wonderful Dutch man, we’re parents to four amazing kids who keep life interesting every day.
